Principal's welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Charleville State High School.

Charleville State High School delivers a quality secondary education for students in Years 7 – 12 and is located within the township of Charleville within the Murweh Shire.  Charleville State High School strives to create opportunities for our students so that each one can discover and develop their academic and extracurricular strengths.
Our Junior Secondary department (Year 7, 8 and 9) students have a great start to their secondary education at Charleville State High School.  At Charleville State High School we work very closely with our feeder primary schools to ensure as seamless transition as possible from upper primary to junior secondary school.  Our students are offered a holistic curriculum from year 7 through to 12.  Our Junior Secondary students have their distinct uniform which enables a distinct identity to be created for our Junior Secondary Department.  Our Senior Secondary department (Year 10, 11 and 12) continues to have access to the highest quality education.  It is my belief that we offer our Senior Secondary students a very rich curriculum and our students have many opportunities both academic and non-academic, that students in some of the larger schools simply do not have access to.  Our Senior Secondary students enjoy smaller class sizes and individual assistance offered by their teachers.
At the heart of Charleville State High School is our motto, “The sky’s the limit”.  This motto helps us shape our school environment where we believe that success and excellence are not only something that is sort after but should also be practised as part of our school culture.  Our school has a proud tradition of offering both academic and vocational pursuits, which cater for each student’s individual career goals.  Our staff is second to none and committed to ensuring that we can offer your students every opportunity to succeed.
Our school’s pedagogical model is based on the “Dimensions of Teaching and Learning” and our teachers embed Explicit Instruction as part of their practice.  This pedagogical model is explicitly taught in every class to ensure consistency of practice in both the Junior and Senior Secondary departments within our school.  This pursuit of excellence is based on our “Explicit Improvement Agenda” which dictates everyday practice.
The Explicit Improvement Agenda is based on four key areas:
1)    Student Outcomes
2)    Quality Teaching
3)    Literacy and Numeracy
4)    Positive Partnerships.
Together with our explicit improvement agenda, our school is a  Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School.  The PBL program adds to the culture of our school and supports the embedding of our rules and expectations affectionately known as the 4Be’s and 4V’s.
Charleville State High School has very good facilities, and we are continually upgrading to ensure that students receive the most up to date education with as close to industry standard facilities as possible.  Our industry standard facilities are especially evident in our Agriculture and Hospitality areas.  Our Agricultural and Hospitality Trade Training Centre is one of the most up to date and modern facilities west of Brisbane.
I invite you to explore our website and join us at Charleville State High School.  I am very proud of our students, staff and school community, and we look forward to welcoming you and your students to our school.
