On behalf of the staff, students, parents and broader school community it is my pleasure to welcome you to Charleville State High School. Our school is located in the township of Charleville within Murweh Shire, boasting excellent facilities that we are continually upgrading to ensure that students receive the most up to date education through industry standard facilities. These are especially evident in our Design (woodwork, metal work), Agriculture and Hospitality areas with the workshops and kitchen spaces noted as some of the most up to date and modern facilities west of Brisbane. This is further enhanced through the beautiful grounds and additional learning spaces which are lovingly maintained by our fantastic staff.
At Charleville State High School we strive to deliver a quality secondary education for students in Years 7 – 12 through a focus on the provision of a supportive learning environment combined with high quality teaching and learning strategies. Our overall aim is to create opportunities for our students so that each one can discover and develop their academic and extracurricular strengths.
This pursuit of excellence is underpinned through our "Explicit Improvement Agenda" which guides everyday practice. The Explicit Improvement Agenda is based on four key areas:
1) Teaching and Learning
2) Supportive Environments
3) Literacy and Numeracy
4) Positive Partnerships.
Together with our explicit improvement agenda, we enable school culture through our commitment as a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School. The PBL program is integral to the provision of supportive learning environments and embeds our rules and expectations.
Our school's pedagogical model is based on the Explicit Instruction pedagogical framework which our teachers embed as part of their everyday practice. This pedagogical model is explicitly taught in every class to ensure consistency of practice in both the Junior and Senior Secondary departments within our school.
Our Junior Secondary department (Year 7, 8 and 9) students have a great start to their secondary education at Charleville State High School. We work very closely with our feeder primary schools to ensure as seamless transition as possible from upper primary to junior secondary school. Our students are offered a holistic curriculum from year 7 through to 12. To further support transition and a sense of belonging our Junior Secondary students have a distinct uniform which enables a unique identity to be created.
Our Senior Secondary students (Year 10, 11 and 12) continue to have access to the highest quality education. It is my belief that we offer a rich curriculum providing students with multiple academic and non-academic opportunities that students in some of the larger schools simply do not have access to. Senior Secondary students at Charleville State High School enjoy smaller class sizes, expert assistance offered by their dedicated teachers and a variety of supports to assist with transition to post-school pathways.
