Our school has been a leading partner and trial school in many of the Department of Education and Training’s initiatives, most recently seeing the entire school - including our large multi-purpose hall, resource centre and flexible eLearning labs – connected to the National Secondary Schools Computer Fund (NSSCF) wireless infrastructure upgrade.

Charleville State High School promotes participation, responsibility and achievement for all; working hand-in-hand with our local community in encouraging students to embrace the future through innovative educational partnerships.

At Charleville State High School, we aim to achieve the best educational outcomes for every student in our school to enable them to develop to their full potential as independent and socially responsible citizens for the 21st century.

In a whole-school context, we applaud and encourage excellence. This is recognised as an individual criterion, related to the ‘distance travelled’ by a particular student. In other words, we look for individual improvement and progress, and give due recognition to this. Awards nights, induction ceremonies, school assemblies, newspaper and radio articles, school magazines and many other opportunities exist to highlight individual achievement and, through its celebration, encourage the positive behaviour that has made such achievement possible.

Our school is located in the South-West Queensland hub of Charleville, situated on the banks of the Warrego River approximately 780 kilometres west of Brisbane. Built in 1961, Charleville State High School was opened on 21 July 1962 by the Hon AR Fletcher, MLA, Minister  for Public  Lands and Immigration.

From these humble beginnings, Charleville State High School continues to strive towards being a first class provider of secondary education to our community.
