Vocational Education
All of the VET courses offered by this School lead to nationally recognised qualifications – a certificate (if all of the requirements of the qualification are completed) or a statement of attainment (for those parts that are successfully completed where the full qualification is not completed). This certificate/statement of attainment will be recognised in all eight states/territories in Australia. This is because Australia has a national qualifications framework called the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Charleville State High School can offer our students access to quality Vocational Education Training (VET) programs which can result in the student achieving a nationally recognised qualification.
Vocational Education and Training is for students who want to develop work-related knowledge and skills. This is offered in different ways, including:
- Stand-alone VET courses delivered by the school.
- School based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs) allow students to work for an employer and train towards a recognised qualification under contract of training while completing their school studies. If the SAT is not completed by the end of year 12, students may convert to a full-time or part-time traineeship/apprenticeship.
Work Experience
Work experience is available for students in Years 10–12. It allows students to test personal vocational preferences through performing tasks in a workplace setting. Students select placements according to their future occupational aspirations that will ideally assist them in making informed decisions about their intended career path.
Students wanting to take part in work experience should see the Industry Liaison Officer (ILO) to organise and obtain documents needing to be signed by all parties before the work experience can begin.
