Maryborough Technology Challenge

11/10/2016
On the 9th, 10th and 11th of September 17 students competed in the Maryborough Technology Race  in Maryborough. With 2 teams of 8 students (1 Grade 12 in the Hornet and 1 Grade 11 team in the Mustang) they raced for a gruelling 24 hours around a 1.1km track in the heart of Maryborough. We raced against schools from around Queensland and Victoria. With  1500 competitors and 138 bikes it is a major event on the HPV calendar.
The Mustang lost a crank bolt which nearly put us out of the race. Thankfully our resource team who went to nearly every other competitors pit to try to find a replacement they managed to find a bolt and get the Mustang back on the track. Both bikes had several roll overs and chains come off. We also had a flat tyre on the Hornet on the first lap and it also finished the race on a flat tyre. During the night we had rain more roll overs and some great lap times.

A special thankyou goes to my support crew Mr Jensen (Bus Driver, Pit Crew), Ms Andreatta (massage specialist, Pit Crew) and Ange Vetter (Resource Manager, Motivationalist). Without these staff giving up their weekend I could not have made this event possible.
All students competed extremely well and once again showed great Charleville spirit. We will be looking at competing in 3 other events next year and would also appreciate any sponsorship or assistance.
