Agricultural Studies

20/06/2018
Year 9 Ag Students have had an excellent term studying Sheep Industry including the terrible state of our export ships. Our top 5 students for this term are Paige Einam, Taylah Short, Sophie Heinemann, Libi Barker and Zoe Radnedge with A+ being awarded. All other students did extremely well with all passing their exam. They also kept busy in the Ag Plot sowing vegetable seeds and now are eagerly attending the beds waiting for the produce.
Year 10 have been working through Cert 1 Ag and completing projects in the Ag Plot. Jessica is remodelling a garden bed that gets plenty of western sun.
In 8 Ag we are looking at sheep from how they are farmed and managed to how they reproduce. Students have been intrigued about the programs helping lambing production to increase the sheep population in Australia and the devastation that live export can have on sheep and farmers. The Year 7 Ag class have been very enthusiastic to learn about agriculture in many different industries from plants to animals. The 7’s had to produce an informative poster on an animal or plant to inform people on how their product is farmed, the anatomy and the imports and exports of the product. This class has enjoyed their time in the Ag plot getting garden beds ready for planting and feeding the animals that we are lucky to have.
